Dr Weiqi Xing
The University of Technology Sydney

Dr Weiqi Xing is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow who joined the University of Technology Sydney in 2025. Prior to this role, she worked as a sustainability consultant for two years. Holding a PhD in Engineering, an MSc in Sustainable Construction, and a BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering, her work integrates sustainability science, civil engineering, and emerging construction technologies.

Weiqi’s research focuses on lifecycle performance in the built environment, with expertise in life cycle assessment (LCA), sustainable construction and management, and circular economy strategies. She is currently developing a stochastic carbon neutrality index, which is an innovative framework designed to quantify, predict, and monitor carbon emissions across all phases of infrastructure lifecycles. Her broader research interests include sustainable construction materials, low-carbon technologies, and digital engineering applications.

With more than ten years of combined academic, research, and industry experience, Weiqi has collaborated extensively with government agencies, local councils, and major construction-material suppliers on LCA modelling, Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), circularity assessments, and decarbonization strategies. Her applied work has contributed to advancing net-zero targets, improving climate resilience, and enhancing resource efficiency across the construction and infrastructure sectors.
