Priscilla Fong
The University of South Australia
PhD candidate
Priscilla hold a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons.) in Petrochemical Engineering from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), Malaysia, and a Master of Engineering Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Malaya. She also completed an internship with the Production Team at Top Glove Corporation, where I gained practical experience in manufacturing processes and production operations.
Her research work has been multidisciplinary, bridging civil, chemical, and materials engineering. One of Priscilla’s main projects focused on sustainable construction materials, specifically the carbon capture ability of cementitious materials enhanced with biochar. Another project explored process engineering and chemical principles, studying the effect of fluid viscosity on magnetophoresis under a low-gradient magnetic field.
Priscilla’s research focuses on the utilisation of biosolids derived biochar to develop sustainable cementitious materials with enhanced thermal energy storage and release capabilities. The aim is to create high performance composites that can stabilise indoor temperatures and improve building energy efficiency. This approach addresses waste management challenges while contributing to low carbon, climate resilient infrastructure capable of mitigating the impacts of extreme heat events.
