Professor Jie Li is a recognised expert in sustainable geotechnics and construction materials. He has made highly influential contributions to developing low-carbon and eco-friendly concrete and road pavement by utilising various waste materials and industrial by-products. The findings of his team’s research have been published in the top-ranked international journals and have been covered worldwide in over 3500 mainstream and industry-focused media outlets, including CNN, Reuters, Washington Post, New York Times, The Age, the Herald Sun, Daily Mail, The Guardian, La Repubblica (Italy), The Times of India, BBC world service radio, New Scientist, World Economic Forum, New Atlas, Xinhua (China), Gizmodo Brazil, Engineers Australia Magazine – Create, ASCE Civil Engineering Magazine, TV news on ABC, SBS, Nine and 10, ABC Melbourne and Sydney morning radio and other radio bulletins. His team received the 2022 RMIT Award for Research Impact and Collaboration and was a finalist for the 2023 Australia’s Waste Innovation & Recycling Awards.
Professor Jie Li has been awarded 20 research grants worth over $10 million since 2016, including ARC ITTC, DP and LP. He has published more than 170 journal papers. As a principal supervisor, he has successfully supervised 11 PhD and 5 M.Phil. students to completion.
